It’s a universal truth that nothing humbles a person faster than opening their phone camera only to be confronted with an unflattering, chin-heavy, slightly confused version of themselves. My twin sister, a professional fashion photographer, and I joke about this all the time—how there's a stark difference between what you think you look like and the reality your camera serves up without mercy. But as a twin, the experience is even weirder. I look at my sister and see myself, which means I get a real-time, high-definition look at my quirks—how I arch my eyebrows when I’m deep in thought, the way I walk with a slight sway back, or how my face contorts when I’m concentrating (spoiler: it’s not cute). She’s like my living, breathing mirror, except instead of a reflection, she’s got her own thoughts, opinions, and the audacity to capture my "real" face on camera before I even get a chance to adjust.
